Since 2009, Tell Your Story has been helping organizations develop & amplify great stories for business success. Enjoy the first edition of Storytime – Updates from Tell Your Story.

Insights: Death of the Hashtag

Hashtags are arguably the most iconic symbol social media has seen to date. What started as a simple # sign transformed into a universal tool for categorizing content, sparking movements, and creating digital communities. But as social media continues to evolve, so does the role of hashtags. So, are hashtags still relevant, or are they becoming obsolete? Our own Ella Cooper considers the question in our latest “Our Thoughts” post.

Slam Spotlight: Katy Wilhelmi

At our Tell Your Story Slam 3 a few months ago, we were blessed to hear from Katy Wilhelmi. Her inspiring story, “From Felonies to Freedom . . . My Journey of Redemption,” reminds us that everyone has a past . . . and, with grit and determination, a promising future. Tell Your Story Slam is a partnership with the historic Wilmette Theatre in suburban Chicago. Follow us for more Slam stories.

Client Spotlight: Titan/The Learnery

For the past few years, Tell Your Story has been privileged to be the marketing agency of record for Titan Healthcare, a company created with the clear vision of solving for the problems that exist in today’s healthcare system. Founded by clinicians, Nick Dobrzelecki and Dr. Antony Chu, they have a unique perspective on the issues, and the insight required to innovate practical, realistic solutions that work for healthcare and beyond.

One of Titan Healthcare’s subsidiaries is The Learnery, a transformative education platform suitable for any industry. The Learnery utilizes the science of microlearning methodology, increasing users’ knowledge acquisition and retention by up to 80%.

“From the day we’re born, we’re learning. However, somewhere along the way, learning has become a chore. For many professionals, there isn’t enough time in the day for skill development. Microlearning is the secret weapon. It optimizes the cognitive process and transforms aspirational learning into actionable, real-world results, allowing professionals to achieve lifelong career growth.” – Dr. Antony Chu, MD, MBA, Co-founder.

Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, we want to acknowledge Black marketing and communications professionals who have paved the way for generations to come. Their dedication and commitment to this field have left an undeniable mark.

Tom Burrell – Burrell has forever altered the conversation around Black people in communications and marketing. He is known for his famous phrase, “Black people are not dark-skinned white people.” He founded Burrell Communications in 1971 and was determined to change the image of Black people in America. He worked on several high-profile campaigns, including the Black Marlboro Man.

Carol H. Williams – Wiliams was the first black female creative director at Leo Burnett in Chicago. Williams is acknowledged for her creative philosophy, “It doesn’t matter what you say, the only thing that matters is what they understand. We compete for attention in a world of ever-expanding choice and distraction – we win with empathy by encoding ideas and possibilities that aren’t just based on the needs of the brands but ideas that are meaningful and powerfully relevant to what people care about.” She is now the founder and CEO of Carol H. Williams Advertising.

Bozoma Saint John – Saint John is a powerhouse communications professional who has held top positions at leading global companies, including Chief Marketing Officer of Netflix from 2020 to 2022. Saint John has been inducted into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement, Billboards’ Women in Music Hall of Fame (for her work with PepsiCo and Apple Music), and the Marketing Hall of Fame. She now owns her own business and continues to pave the way for Black females.

Lastly, we would like to shout out some organizations that were created to help Black individuals thrive in their professional lives: Black Marketers Association of America, Marcus Graham Project, and ColorComm.

Storytime is published by story marketing agency Tell Your Story Brand Communications Inc. (TYS). Since 2009, TYS has been the alternative marketing partner for organizations of all sizes who have a great story to tell, but don’t have the resources to work with a giant marketing agency. We are integrated marketing communicators who develop and amplify great stories for business success. Our purpose is to bring great people together to accomplish things we wouldn’t be able to accomplish on our own. Let’s make something happen together.
